Notre-Dame-du-Bec Abbey enjoyed a period of great intellectual influence in the 11th century. Rebuilt in the 17th and 18th centuries by the order of Saint-Maur, the monastery is dominated by the tall Saint-Nicolas tower, a vestige from the 15th century. A community of Benedictine monks has been in residence here since 1948.
