Built in the XIIth century, facing the foothills of the Lubéron, the Aabbaye de Silvacane is, with its "sisters" Sénanque and Le Thoronet, clear evidence of the influence of the Cistercian order in Provence. Austere, severe and serene, its architecture accords perfectly with the rule advocated by Saint Bernard. The refectory, today restored, has contemporary stained-glass windows by the artist Sarkis. |
