Set in its own 8 acres park with secular trees, Garrevaques was originally constructed in 1470 by the ancestors of the present owners. Greatly damaged during the French Revolution, the chateau, as it exists today, was entirely restored in the last part of the 18th century. It has been modernised since and permanently inhabited.
The main salon has rare examples of a forerunner of modern wallpaper from Dufour & Leroy depicting grey-and-white classical Psyché and Cupidon scenes (hand-painted paper dating back from 1840, named "Grisaille de Zuber"). The bedrooms and the public rooms all are enhanced with gilt-framed mirrors, chandeliers and antique furniture. Most of them have a superb parquet floor.
