Who are we ?

The website chateauxstory is born from the the collaboration between 3 professionals who united their abilities to create an efficient guide attendig to those who apreciate the charm of old houses.
Anne Charles de GONTAUT BIRON has been managing the castle of Courtalain (28) for the last 20 years, was a member and a consultant of the chain Châteaux et Hôtels de France et conseiller de cette chaîne and is nowadays member of the chain Symboles de France.
The House of GONTAUT BIRON is one of the oldest, most illustrious families in France.
They are natives of Périgord (first barony of Périgord). The family estate, the château de Biron, stands proudly on this land.
The family name is mentioned for the first time in a record of donation to the bishop of Carcassonne ABBON in 926.
It acquired the rank of ducal family in 1598, under the reign of HENRI IV.
Marshal Armand de BIRON was HENRI IV's godfather.
In 1862 the mutual love between the young Louis de GONTAUT BIRON and the niece of the Duke of MONTMORENCY allowed Courtalain to become part of the House of GONTAUT BIRON, the duke of MONTMORENCY having chosen this young couple as sole legatee.
Today his direct descendant, the Count of GONTAUT BIRON, still lives there.

Olivier CHARREAU, 42, engineer in computer projetcs for 10 years.
Specialized in informations systems, he is charge of the well-being aand harmonious development of the technics between the advertisers.

This site is original compared to the existing ones. Thus, not only can you find a castle or an old house to organize a reception, a trip or an outing on a Sunday afternoon but also some reputed professionals to realize your project (example: caterer for a reception, restaurant for lunch or car rental for your trip).

The offices of the site are, as one can expect, in the castle which belonged to the illustrious house of Montmorency: the castle of Courtalain.
